Now in its third year of presentation the 2020 fund is again supported by a grant of €5,000 from GSK, for which ADEE is most grateful.
The scholarship supports ADEE members (Dental Institutions, Universities and Associations) who demonstrate excellence in how they:

Incorporate public dental health elements within their curriculum;

Encourage students to appreciate aspects such as local and regional health needs, their variations and implications of health economics;

Encourage a whole health approach within their curriculum including but not limited to encouraging inter professional care;

Include local population needs within their curriculum and encourage students to take a holistic approach to defining and delivering patient care;

Ensure health promotion (oral and whole health) is not only encouraged but facilitated through the curriculum and how such activities within the curriculum is impacting on local populations;

Encourage an ethos of equity of access within their students practice;

Integrate wider oral and public health issues within their curriculum.
Funding is provided for projects that enhance delivery of the Dentsitry in Society Competence Domain of the Graduating Dentist. In 2020, three awards are being made:

Academisch Centrum Tandheelkunde Amsterdam (ACTA), Amsterdam, The Netherlands is being recognised for their project focusing on creating and developing a knowledge clip repository focusing on Dental Public Health, Epidemiology, Health Inequalities, Health Promotion, Care in the Community etc. The clips will be integrated into teaching and learning strategies in a number of Oral Health Professional's programmes to enhance student understanding of the Dentistry in Society concept.

Dublin Dental University Hospital, Dublin, Ireland is being recognised for the second time. On this occasion it is for their project focusing on an inter professional collaboration directed at oral health care for the elderly in the residential care home sector. Through the use of tele dentistry in the residential setting the project aims to evolve a meaningful multi disciplinary experience for students and an enhancement of the care provided to care home residents.

The Faculty of Dental Medicine, Medical University of Sofia, Sofia, Bulgaria is being recognised for their ongoing efforts to update and embed the concept of ethical dental practice within its undergraduate curriculum. This current project which the scholarship is supporting will enable the publication of an e-book 'Essentials of social medicine and medical ethics', that will be made available across all relevant programmes to encourage best practice and the ethos behind the dentistry in society concept.
