Venue:

Session type:
Type 4: Organised, planned and delivered by an external group without input from ADEE
Session synopsis:
This study aims to see if a mobile phone-based learning app can improve student performance while on clinical rotation.

We will measure change in student performance using a 14-point clinical skills assessment already in use to see if using the mobile-based learning app improves student performance on the assessment compared to historical data when students were not using the app. Our hypothesis is that student use of the application prior to undergoing clinical rotations may increase certain clinical performance metrics. We specifically investigated the effects of the app on students’ ability to prescribe oral medications. Analysis indicated a significant improvement in students’ scores on prescribing ability after intervention.
